Change Auditor 产品通知

Critical Alerts

On October 1, 2022, Microsoft will start to randomly disable basic authentication on tenants for several Exchange Online protocols, including MAPI, POP, IMAP and more. Microsoft indicates that SMTP authentication will not be affected at this time. However, Microsoft does plan to disable basic authentication for all protocols by the first week in January 2023.

How does this affect me?

Change Auditor uses SMTP with basic authentication for configuration of email alert notifications. If you use Exchange Online as the SMTP server (smtp.office365.com) in this configuration you should not be affected by the change at this time. However, if basic authentication does get disabled for SMTP on your tenant Microsoft has issued a workaround (noted below).

Workaround

Microsoft is offering a one-time basic authentication re-enablement for specific protocols. We recommend following steps from this Microsoft article to request a one-time SMTP basic authentication re-enablement: Basic Authentication Deprecation in Exchange Online.

Status

The Change Auditor team is working on adding an option to use modern authentication when configuring email alerts. This functionality will be released in a Q4 maintenance release.

We apologize for the inconvenience this issue may have caused and we are working quickly correct it.
