Description: NDMP jobs hanging with waiting for media when 'ensure backup is first on media' parameter is ticked in 'Target' tab of backup
Symptoms: Jobs hanging on 'waiting for media' when trying to backup multi-volume NDMP backups.
Cause: it is not possible to use the 'ensure backup is first on media' parameter with multi-volume NDMP backups. The problem is that each sub job reads the parameter anew as if it were a completely new job and so while the first volume will be written to a tape that is blank or marked for reuse when the second volume comes to run it will sit permanently on 'no suitable media' or 'waiting for media'.
