When I input or enter an Old-Format Term License Key, I get the error:
Access violation at address 004051C0 in module 'Toad.exe'. Read of address 06863000.
The initial problem was Toad 11.6 will not start. The banner flashes briefly nothing else happens. This was when Toad 11.6 was reading the Old-Format Term License Key from Toad 9.7. I renamed the whole Toad for Oracle folder in the App Data location; now Toad 11.6 at least asks for a license key now, but I get the AV error above if I use the Old-Format Term License Key.
Toad 11.6 is having problems with using an Old-Format Term License Key. Please contact License@quest.com if you need your Old-Format Term License Key converted to the new format.
1) Fully exit ALL of Toad and then go to:
XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR_USER>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\
-or-
Vista or 7:
C:\Users\<YOUR_USER>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\
2) Rename the whole "Toad for Oracle" folder (add _OLD in the end) as Toad 11.6 should not be able to see any Old-Format Term License Keys.
3) Start Toad 11.6 first and enter your New-Format Term License Key (contact License@quest.com if you need your Old-Format Term License Key converted to the new format).
4) Toad 11.6 should now be able to start fine.
5) You can now start Toad 9.7 as well, and it should not affect the new format key that Toad 11.6 is now using.
Note: If you need the old setting back to your Toad 9.7, copy back the 9.7 folder in the new Toad for Oracle folder that was generated.
Note: Do not migrate settings from 9.7 to 11.6 as the version difference is a lot. However individual connections history, sql history, may still be transferred.
