What kind of JClass DesktopViews licenses are there?
Licensing for JClass DesktopViews is broken into two categories: evaluation and purchased. Evaluations are performed without the need for an actual license file. You simply need to download the evaluation installer and run it for each machine you wish to test with. The evaluation system will time out after 15 days. For a purchased product there are three basic steps to installation which are outlined below. Please note that the evaluation installer is different from the purchased version.
1. You will receive a file with the extension .license from us via email. This license can be requested manually (via Direct), or using the license wizard's "obtain license key" button.
2. Once you receive the .license file you will use the license wizard to process the license. This will produce a file with a .licenses extension.
3. You will need to ensure that the .licenses file is picked up in your classpath. There are two basic ways to do this. The .licenses file can be placed inside the JClass .jar files used by your classpath. The license wizard will ask you if you wish to do this, or you can also do so manually. In addition, you can specifically reference the directory containing the .licenses file from your classpath. If you do this you will also need to reference the required .jar files in your classpath.
If you change from one license type to another it is very important to verify that the .jar files you are using for evaluation/development are being correctly referenced. This normally involves checking your classpath and IDE preferences to ensure that there are no references to old product versions. Please note that JClass DesktopViews is licensed on a node locked basis. This means that each license is keyed to the hostname of the machine. Any change to the hostname of a machine will cause the license validation process to fail. If you have any questions regarding this information or are having difficulty with the licensing process please take a look at the questions listed at the start of this document to see if they match the problem you are encountering.
