How to configure a windows Big Brother client?
1. On the Big Brother client:
Start | Programs | Quest Software | Big Brother Professional Edition | Client | Configure
The Big Brother client sends its status reports to one or more display (BBDISPLAY) and pager (BBPAGER) servers. In these two fields, you must enter the IP addresses for each BBDISPLAY and BBPAGER server the client should report to. If a server is both a BBDISPLAY and BBPAGER server, you must enter its IP address in both fields.
1.a To enter the IP address for a BBDISPLAY server, type it in the field under DISPLAY hosts, then click Add. Repeat this for any additional BBDISPLAY servers..
1.b To enter the IP address for a BBPAGER server, type it in the field under PAGER hosts, then click Add. Repeat this for any additional BBPAGER servers.
1.c To remove a server from either list, select it from the drop down list and click Del.
2. On the Big Brother Server:
2.a You must define the client host on the appropriate Big Brother BBDISPLAY and BBPAGER server(s). (If you want the Big Brother server to perform network tests on this host, you must also define it on the BBNET server.) You must add it to the list of hosts in the etc\bb-hosts.cfg file on a Windows server or the etc/bb-hosts file on a UNIX server. You must do this even if you are installing the client on the same computer as the server software. Follow the instructions in the server help file for adding a host.
2.b If the client computer is DHCP enabled, you must use 0.0.0.0 for its IP address when defining it on the server. This causes the server to look up this host using only its computer name, not the IP address.
