Spotlight on Oracle
Getting intermittent errors with Spotlight for Oracle when trying to capture OS details.
First a Windows error that states:

An error log is being created.

This is followed by a Spotlight error stating:

You do not have permission to access this machine's registry. Error is :
The performance data could not retrieved. Error 1726: The remote procedure call failed
Do you want to continue without OS statistics collection?

Furthermore, upon checking the system event log in windows, there will be a Service Control Manager error in the System log of the event view stating:

The Remote Registry Service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).
The following corrective action will be taken in 1000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

This is most likely the problem with not getting statistics when you're not logged onto a network if you don't have the Microsoft Loopback Adapter installed and are trying to monitor Oracle installed locally on your computer.
There are different ways to configure the loopback adapter depending on whether your computer is NT or 2000.
NT - From the Start Menu select Settings | Control Panel | Network | Adapters; Add the MS Loopback Adapter. Configure the adapter with any dummy IP address. Your machine will then be able to resolve the machine name to an IP address.
2000 - From the Start Menu select Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Hardware; Click next and choose Add/Troubleshoot a device; when next window appears, select Add a New Device; select No, I want to select the hardware from a list; pick Network Adapters out of the list; for Manufacturer pick Microsoft; for network adapter pick Microsoft Loopback Adapter; click next; and next one more time I believe and it will be installed. You usually don't have to reboot for this to take effect and Spotlight will monitor properly.
