After initial installation, the user is prompted to create a view with all sites and alerts in it. For very large installations, this causes the My Alert Views tree to fail to load and throws the "Cannot refresh alert statistics" error.

Selecting a smaller subset of sites/alerts to create a view will succeed. The size difference for IT Organizations explains why one installation works and the other does not.
To recover the "broken" view, simply execute the rtw_RemoveView stored procedure with the number of the broken view. [InTrust_Alerts > Programmability > Stored Procedures > dbo.rtw_RemoveView].
