"Element not found" error when launching new automation or Log Reader. -
Description
When opening Tools | Automation or opening or Log Reader, the following error is given. Other features in Toad seem to be working, just not Automation.

Element not found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070490) -
Cause
Corrupted file in the application data directory.

Resolution
Exit out of Toad, then find and rename the Toad for SQL Server application data directory.
The directory can be reached by link in the Help | About window, noted as "Application Data Directory". Or by going directly to C:\Documents and Settings\<personal folder>\Local Settings\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for SQL Server <version>. -
Additional Information
This will reset all setting to default. If settings need to be kept, you can carry over the setting.xml and the connections.xml files too re-implement settings and connection history, as long as the corruption does not involve these files.
