Resolution
Toad can now connect to a database without an installed Oracle client using ODAC "Direct mode". To learn about the limitations of this method see ODAC Connection Modes - Client Mode vs Direct Mode" on devart.com:
Limitations of the Direct mode:- Only TCP/IP connections supported.
- TOraLoader direct loading is not supported.
- Some issues may occur when using firewalls.
- NLS conversion is not supported on the client side.
- Transparent Application Failover is not supported.
- Change notifications (TOraChangeNotification) are not supported.
- OS Authentication supported for Windows only.
