Perform a reset of Toad for Oracle:
NOTE: Make sure to back up your Toad Authorization Key and Site Message. You can get this from the Toad Help menu | Licensing or from your own records.
1) Fully Exit Toad.
2) Go to:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<your_user>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\10.x\
Vista / 7: C:\Users\<your_user>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\10.x\
(Where X is the specific version installed).
3) Rename the 10.x folder to 10.x_OLD.
4) Start Toad
5) When prompted to Migrate previous Toad settings, do NOT migrate any settings (choose Clean Install)
NOTE: If not prompted to complete the Initial Toad settings, this means that the above steps did not work. Or the wrong folder was renamed. Contact Support for assistance.
6) Connect to ONE database ONLY(check the 'Save Passwords' box in the login screen if prefered), and then fully exit Toad. This will finalize all the settings.
7) Start Toad again and re-test the issue.
NOTE: The above steps will restore Toad settings back to factory settings. Your Connections History list in the Toad login window and the SQL History will be emptied out. To restore the Histories, follow the steps below (make sure not to delete the 10.x_OLD folder that was renamed in Step 3 above).
To move the Connections History:
8) Fully Exit Toad (make sure you have checked the 'Save Passwords' box mentioned in Step 6 above).
9) Go into the 10.0_OLD folder that was renamed earlier, and then go into the User Files folder.
10) Copy (not Cut or Move) the CONNECTIONS.INI, CONNECTIONPWDS.INI, and SavedSQL.dat files.
11) Paste both files in the existing 10.0\User Files folder and replace the existing ones.
12) Start Toad and the Connections History and SQL History will be restored.
