Datatype problems within Export Dataset -
Description
TOAD adds an additional blank to the field and the Import is not possible (as only 2 chars are allowed).
Using Export Dataset feature for CHAR(2) datatype fields (e.g. INSERT Statement - but occurs with all Options).
Example:
CREATE TABLE TEST_INSERT(COL_1 CHAR(2 BYTE) NOT NULL,COL_2 CHAR(2 BYTE) NOT NULL)2. Insert some data:Insert into TEST_INSERT(COL_1, COL_2)Values('15', '01');3. Go to View | Toad options | Oracle |General and select "Unix Style" for newline format.4. Open the Schema Browser, locate the table, right-click on the table name in the LHS of the Schema Browser and Export dataset5. Select "Insert statements" and check "unix style save"Notice the extra space from within the values to be inserted:Result: Values('15 ', '01 ')Expected: Values('15', '01') -
Cause
Product Defect : CR 115017 , identified as an ODAC bug.

Resolution
WORKAROUND
Navigate to View|Toad Options | Data Grids |Data | Display and check the “trim string data in CHAR and NCHAR” option.
STATUS
Waiting for fix in a future release of Toad for Oracle.
