Error "A TNSNames.ora file was not found" occurs when using Database Browser (4270693)

When Database | Monitor | Database Browser is clicked on, error "A TNSNames.ora file was not found. Error." occurs.

TNSNames is not being used, OID/LDAP however is being used.

WORKAROUND

Download the attached empty tnsnames.ora file.

1. With Toad for Oracle closed, do the following:
Drill to the Oracle Client \Network\Admin\ folder.

For example:
C:\oracle\11gR2client32bit\Network\Admin\

2. Place this file, tnsnames.ora, in the above path.

Known Issues

While Toad supports LDAP connectivity, some features of Toad depend on tnsnames.ora file to operate correctly. These features include but may not be limited to Quest ScriptRunner, Database Browser, and Service Manager.
