Internal data engine generates invalid date format - ORA-01843 -
Description
For a database with European NLS Parameters, an invalid date error appears when trying to generate data using the Internal data engine.
Toad generates insert statements that won't work on non-english NLS parameters for DATE columns.
For example:
INSERT INTO TEST1 (
BIRTHDATE,
) VALUES (TO_DATE('15-APR-1965', 'DD-MON-RRRR')When this is run against the database, the following error appears:
'ORA-01843: This is not a valid month'
This is only an issue for the INTERNAL data generation engine.
For the DBMS_RANDOM and TOAD_DATAGEN engines, it behaves fine - without any issue.Can the Internal generate data engine create the date format based on the NLS parameters rather than the default format? -
Cause
It's due to the date format being used by default by the 'Internal' data generation engine, not matching the date format of the NLS parameters set against the session.
