Error received upon being prompted to enter the information to create a new Toad schema when using the Server Side Object Install Wizard; however, a successful connection has already been established in earlier screens and the status bar show that there is still a connection.
"Ora-03114: not connected to Oracle". Connect had already been established in earlier screens without any problems and even the status bar at the bottom of the install wizards show that it is still connected.
This is an issue related to Oracle 9.2.
WORKAROUND:
Refer to the attached file, Sol14696.swf, to view a short flash file that will walk you through the following steps.
Use Server Side Object Wizard to create the Server Side Object Scripts without a connection, then run them in a Toad's SQL Editor window. Scripts to set up the Toad Schema, enable Explain Plans in a private schema, etc. can be created without access to the database connection you need. Then at a later time a connection can be made to the desired database to run the scripts.
To create scripts without a connection:
1. Launch Server Side Object Wizard, by select Tools | Server Side Objects Wizard.
2. Select "Create setup scripts without a database connection" from the first wizard screen and click Next.
3. Select which scripts you want to create. (All or None can be used).
4. Check the destination path and file names for the scripts being to created. This can be individually specified or click "Set Directory" at the top of the window to set the path for all of the selected scripts.
5. Click Finish to create the selected scripts. If a script already exists, a dialog box will appear asking if it is all right to overwrite the existing script.
6. Run the script in a Toad SQL Editor window to create the necessary objects.
Once the Toad schema is created a user can usually use Server Side Object install Wizard without any errors to install other needed objects.
