'Message : startIndex cannot be larger than length of string' (4283478)

User has used Toad Editor and got error 'startIndex cannot be larger than length of string' when it happened on code completion: If user identified  a table  and pressed return, the cursor spins to look it up. Many times user won't wait for it to get a response. When user really started getting errors is if he identified a table in the FROM clause but forgot the Owner of the table. Then in the SELECT, he identified the synonym with the period and it goes off to do its lookup. But it won't find anything because there isn't a valid table without the Owner identified. But he won't get these errors until a while later.

STATUS

Waiting for a fix with CR 81,404 on a future release of Toad for DB2.
