Description
When attempting to connect to more than 2 connections in Toad Data Studio, and a valid subscription license is in place, the following error appears when connecting to a third connection:
‘The freeware version of Toad only supports 2 connections.’

Cause
Issue within the Application Data Directory of Toad Data Studio, for the signed in Windows OS user

Resolution
1. Close Toad Data Studio
2. Rename the Application Data Directory, e.g.
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad Data Studio Subscription
3. Then open Toad Data Studio, so it rebuilds the Application Data Directory from scratch, and re-test the same connection steps.
