Description

When trying to create an SFTP connection in Toad Data Point, using a PPK file created from Putty, the following error shows:

'Failed to recognize key format. Supported formats are OpenSSH, SSH.com and PuTTY.'
Resolution

The key will need to be version 2 rather than version 3, as defined in PuTTYGen

1. Copy the original key (filename.ppk) to a test folder
2. Open PuTTY Key Generator
3. Choose Key -> Parameters for saving key files
4. For the PPK file version select 2 and click Ok
5. Load the previously copied private key
6. Save private key and then use that key to create an FTP connection in TDP
