Can't update a timestamp value using Database Explorer. "ERROR: Bad timestamp external represe (4304147)

Connected to a Netezza database. When trying to update a timestamp column in the data grid in Object Explorer, the following error occurs:

"Error posting changes" message with text, "ERROR: Bad timestamp external representation '{ts '2010-12-13 00:00:00'}' Do you want to keep your changes so you can edit them?" 

This error results whether using the calendar tool or trying to directly enter the value in the text box.

WORKAROUND

Make changes by running sql in editor
