Ensure you add the Vertica ODBC connection via the Windows ‘ODBC Data Source Administrator’ window.
Go to the Toad login screen, and click on the “Open ODBC Data Source Administrator” icon. This will open the Windows ‘ODBC Data Source Administrator’ window – NOTE: this is the one that TDP sees.
It is important that your Vertica ODBC driver appears there. If it does not, then you may need to install 32-bit Vertica ODBC drivers.
In addition, the Vertica ODBC Connection that you created should also appear there. If it does not, please create a new Vertica ODBC Connection and test it as well using the ‘Test Connection’ button.
After the above, go back to the Toad login screen. The Vertica ODBC Connection you created should now appear in the ‘Data source name’ drop-down box. Please select that entry and then try connecting.
NOTE: If the error comes when publishing a Toad Automation Script (*.TAS) to Toad Intelligence Central (TIC), and the connection fails in TIC but the TAS was running successfully locally, this is because TIC does not have a ODBC-DSN created with the same exact name as the one used locally, TIC's Admin needs to make sure TIC has the ODBC-DSN working correctly, and it would be best id TIC's ODBC Client uses SYSTEM as "Authentication | User Name*" in it's configuration, without saving the Password.
