I am working with Query Builder, but when I generate a query, it shows an ODBC connection string. From my understanding I am connected to the database through the native client. I also do not see this string generated/used in all the queries I build.
Why does Toad decide to use ODBC sometimes, and how do I get it to only use my native client?
When working with heterogeneous queries and cross platform access of databases, the Query Builder will need to use ODBC connection.
If you are only working with one database and not cross platform it will not use the heterogeneous query and ODBC. Keep in mind if you start working with a heterogeneous query, that query builder tab will be set to use ODBC even if you are only working with one database. You would need to open a new builder tab if you want to use native clients after enabling heterogeneous query once.
ODBC connection is requeried for heterogeneous queries.
If you started using objects from various database and then decide to only access one platform and that native client, you will need to open a new Query Builder tab and set up the query again to exit out of heterogeneous query mode and the ODBC specifications.
