When automating and creating a job to Select to File, the data is directed to save to an existing file that has specific settings and formatting. But job saves the data but over-writes the current info and any previously saved setting and format are reset to default.
For example a ob is run and is saved to an existing .xls on the network drive. The existing excel specifies a certain date and currency format. But when the job is run, the data is correctly saved to the file, but the specific date and currency formatting has been reset.
WORKAROUND:
Use the Export Wizard option. Specify a query and choose to save to excel. The Export Wizard also has the ability to append worksheets. Just point to the file and choose existing worksheets listed or "Add new worksheet".These will uphold formatting.
STATUS:
Enhancement request ST59045 has been submitted to development for consideration in a future release of Toad for Data Analysts.
Recently added are more options for exporting to Excel with the "Select to" automation activity. These enhancements are covered under ST59045 and ST43626, and should be available for review in the TDA 2.5.0.356 BETA version found at www.toadsoft.com.
