[TDP] "[Cloudera][ImpalaODBC] (110) Error while executing a query in Impala: [HY000] : ParseException: Syntax error in line 1:" error is encountered when executing Common Table Expressions (CTEs) -
Description
If a query using a Common Table Expression (CTE) is run using an ODBC connection to an IMPALA Data source, it will produce an error related to the Syntax.

If the query is run without using a CTE, it will run fine.

Cause
One problem is with using the reserved word "Data". More details on Impala reserved words can be found hereAnother problem is that this query will not work when the word "Data" is changed with the word "something".OdbcCommand.cs -> ExecuteDbDataReader() line 409 -> line 448 OdbcAPI.SQLExecDirectW sets typeCode to ERROR instead of SUCCESS, so in line 450 OdbcDiagnostic.PrintDiagnosticInformation an exception is thrown based on typeCode property.This is a problem with SQLExecDirectW() from ODBC driver (check OdbcAPI.cs line 2760 SQLExecDirectW()).For more details, Visit Link. -

WORKAROUND:
Workaround is to not use With with Cast
