User is trying to Reverse engineer a diagram of a schema of over 700 tables and the outcome is completely overlayed

Resolution
About this overlayed issue, one thought would be to work with the Workspaces. You can divide your large model into workspaces (similar to submodels). In workspaces, you can freely work with shortcuts of objects. For each workspace, you can set a different layout (autolayout), different format, and even different page format and orientation File | Page Format.
Note: The orientation you set up in the Page Format dialog will be default for printing the ERD then.

Change display level (e.g. to entities), modify format of entities in WS (see the WS Format options). To divide into WS, create shortcuts etc. should help. However, manual changes are necessary.
