Performing a full restore for Hyper-V® VMs
> Performing a full restore for Hyper-V® VMs
vRanger performs a full restore of a VM by using a savepoint created from a backup job. A savepoint contains point-in-time data of the VM. If you select an incremental savepoint from which to restore the server, a full savepoint is also restored, along with every incremental savepoint taken between the time of the full backup and the time of the selected incremental backup.
For information about performing a full restore from a savepoint manifest, see Restoring from manifest.
For more information, see Performing a full restore of a physical machine.
To perform a full restore for a VM, complete the following tasks:
Starting the Restore Wizard
When restoring a server from a savepoint, the Restore Wizard guides you through the steps necessary to complete the restore.
|In the Working Repository
pane, find the machine to restore. You can filter the machine results by inventory type, and/or search for any part of the machine name.
To select a different savepoint, expand the machine row and select the desired savepoint. Right-click the savepoint, and click Restore, or click Restore on the vRanger toolbar. The Restore Wizard starts.
|On the Job Information
page, enter the Job Name
and Job Description
Selecting a Destination
The Destination Selection page lets you configure the host, drives, and datastores to which the savepoints are to be restored.
|Click the Master Disk Storage Datastore
browse button to locate and select the datastore to use for all VMs. The Master Datastore lets you select all datastores simultaneously.
Selecting a network
The Network Selection page lets you configure the virtual network to which each network adapters should be connected upon restore. You can configure a Master Network, which will be pre-populated as the default selection for each network adaptor in the restore job.
