Spotlight on SQL Server Installation Folder

Default (32bit machine):
C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Spotlight on SQL Server Standard\

Default (64bit machine):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\Spotlight on SQL Server Standard\

Notes:

  • Do not install in the same location as an existing (but different entity of) Spotlight.
  • If you install a different Spotlight after you have installed Spotlight on SQL Server, do not install the new Spotlight in the Spotlight on SQL Server Standard directory.
Spotlight Diagnostic Server Service Account

Specify the user details for the domain user account under which the Spotlight Diagnostic Server will run.

Notes:

  • When installing the Spotlight Diagnostic Server, Windows administrator privileges are required to register the Spotlight Diagnostic Server as a Windows service and to create the Windows user groups that are used to authenticate Spotlight clients.
  • If the user does not have privileges to start services the required privileges are granted by the Spotlight on SQL Server Standard installation process.
Auto-Update

Select to enable auto-update of diagnostic server components.

When selected your installation of the diagnostic server will receive minor updates (scripts and configuration) automatically. When not selected, all updates to the diagnostic server will require a new version and installation of Spotlight on SQL Server.

Note: An outgoing HTTPS connection to a web site is used to retrieve the updates. Enabling of Auto-update does not open a port that allows incoming connections.

Configure the Spotlight Playback Database

The Playback database can be on the same machine as Spotlight on SQL Server or a different machine.

  • In the Instance field select the machine to install the playback database on.
  • Select Windows or SQL server authentication.
  • In the database field, optionally rename the database. The default name is SpotlightPlaybackDatabase. If the database has not already been created, click Create to create the database.
