Uninstall Spotlight

To remove the application and all associated files from your machine, if required.

Uninstall the Spotlight Diagnostic Server

If the Spotlight Diagnostic Server is installed on the same computer as the Spotlight client and the Spotlight client is still installed then click View | Options | Configure Diagnostic Server.

Alternatively, access the computer where the Diagnostic Server is installed:

1. Open Windows Control Panel.
2. Select Programs and Features.
3. Click Spotlight Diagnostic Server for Oracle | Remove | Yes.

Uninstall the Spotlight client

1. Open Windows Control Panel.
2. Select Programs and Features.
3. Click Spotlight | Remove | Yes.

Start Spotlight

To start Spotlight:

Double click on the Spotlight desktop icon

or…

On the Windows task bar, click Start | Programs | Quest Software | Spotlight | Spotlight.

During operation

Spotlight requires write access to the following:

• Users\<current user>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Shared
• Users\<current user>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Spotlight

You should also verify that you can run the required Oracle client on the Spotlight machine.

Spotlight on Oracle now includes web based analytics

The first time you run Spotlight following install you will be prompted to configure Spotlight to upload data to Spotlight Cloud. Spotlight Cloud provides performance health analytics for your Oracle databases, analysis of your wait statistics and a comparison of your data with other users.

Spotlight Cloud is a free service. You are required to create an account on the Spotlight Cloud web site to use the service.

Tip: You can configure Spotlight for web based analytics anytime. Click View | Options | Spotlight for Mobile devices and web based analytics.

Get Spotlight on your favorite mobile device

When you configure Spotlight to upload data to Spotlight Cloud you also enable the functionality to monitor databases from your mobile device. Follow the onscreen instructions to install Spotlight on your mobile device.

Tip: You can configure anytime. Click View | Options | Spotlight Mobile & web analytics.
