Environment configured to support a three-way network — remote — topology: Data that you want to back up in the file system is written to the tape library through the connection between storage devices A and B. When you want to recover data, storage device A reads data from the tape library and writes the data to the file system through the connection between storage devices A and B. For more information, see the following figure. |

NDMP feature license file: Make sure that the system is licensed to use NDMP features. |

Logical network ports: Verify that the system has been configured with the proper logical ports to support access to the NDMP service. |

User account for NDMP backups and restores: From the administration interface, assign a DMA user name and password for NDMP backups and restores. Consult the relevant filer documentation for instructions on creating a user account. |

Direct Access Recovery (DAR) requirements: To use DAR, enable this feature on the filer. |
