Resolved issues and enhancements

This 5.8.1 release of Foglight for Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp accompanies the release of Foglight Evolve 9.1 and Foglight for Virtualization, Enterprise Edition 8.9.1. It includes the following resolved issues and enhancements:

• Fixed an issue when XenDesktop agent tries to build relationship between two objects, the agent throws NullPointerException. (XD-547)

• Filtered out delivery group with ID '00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000' to prevent dashboard from showing empty data. (XD-648)

Upgrade and compatibility

Upgrade and compatibility

Foglight for Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp supports the following versions of XenDesktop®, XenApp®, and NetScaler®.

The following is a list of Foglight product versions and platforms compatible with this release.

To verify the versions of your XenDesktop and XenApp installations:

1. Open the XenDesktop Studio.
2. In the left pane, click the parent node Citrix Studio.
3. In the right pane, open the PowerShell tab and click Launch PowerShell.
4. Issue the Get-ConfigSite command and observe its output.

To verify the version of your NetScaler installation:

1. Log in to the NetScaler web management console.
2. Check the top panel for version information. For example:
   Version NS10.1: Build 119.7.nc, Date: Jul 29 2013, 23:52:22

To upgrade to the latest version of Foglight for Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp:

1. Download the following packages from Quest Support Portal:
   • Foglight for VMware version 5.8.1 (which includes the vUsage-Feedback-5_8_1.car, DRP-5_8_1.car, Virtual-VMware-5_8_1.car, and Virtual-VMware-Admin-5_8_1.car cartridge files)
   • Foglight for Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp version 5.8.1 (which includes the XenDesktop-5_8_1.car cartridge file)
2. Deactivate all XenDesktop and NetScaler agent instances.
3. On the Cartridge Inventory dashboard, install and enable the following cartridge files. Do not remove the older version of these cartridges. Install version 5.8.0 over the older version. The sequence of cartridge installation is important because of their dependencies:
   1. vUsage-Feedback-5_8_1.car
   2. DRP-5_8_1.car
   3. Virtual-VMware-5_8_1.car
      Note: After installing the Virtual-VMware-5_8_1.car cartridge, existing vCenter agents (VC agents) must be updated using the Update Agent button in the VMware Environment > Administration tab.
   4. Virtual-VMware-Admin-5_8_1.car
   5. XenDesktop-5_8_1.car

   For cartridge installation instructions, see "Installing Foglight cartridges" in the Foglight Administration and Configuration Help.

4. On the XenDesktop Environment dashboard, on the Administration tab, update all of the existing XenDesktop and NetScaler agent instances.
5. Activate all XenDesktop and NetScaler agent instances. For instructions, see Product Licensing.
