Index and Data Write Rate graph

The Index and Data Write Rate graph depicts rates for writing new and changed data and index pages from the selected buffer pool to the database over consecutive monitoring intervals. These rates are based on the number of pages written per second. The graph contains the following series:

  • Data —Plots the rate at which data pages are written from the buffer pool to the database.

  • Index —Plots the rate at which index pages are written from the buffer pool to the database.

  • D Synch —Plots the rate of synchronous data writes. These types of writes block further execution of the query until they are completed. A high synchronous data write rate can degrade performance.

  • I Synch —Plots the rate of synchronous index writes. These types of writes block further execution of the query until they are completed. A high synchronous index write rate can degrade performance.

For related statistical information

The Statistics tab shows the buffer pool read and write counts used to generate this graph. The names for these statistics begin with Buffer Pool. These statistics are derived from the POOL data elements that the DB2 snapshot monitor captures.
