Using other restore procedures

This topic describes other restore operations that you can perform with the plug-in. Some of these operations involve common tasks, which are described first.

Stopping the SharePoint Search service

To stop the SharePoint Search service, enter the following STSADM commands:

Deleting the Search Instance Database

Stopping the SharePoint Search service does not delete the Search Instance Database. Use SQL Server Management Studio to delete this database to avoid any update conflicts during the restore.

In the Object Explorer, navigate to the Databases node, right-click Search Instance Database, and select Delete.

On the Delete Object dialog box, select Close existing connections, and click OK.
