About Migrator for Notes to Exchange

Migrator for Notes to Exchange (MNE) is a set of coordinated software applications designed to facilitate a variety of migration strategies for organizations moving from a Domino server with Notes clients, to a Microsoft Exchange environment with Outlook clients. MNE can migrate either to a proprietary Exchange environment, or to a hosted Exchange service such as Microsoft Office 365.

Table 1. Enhancements

By default, MNE adds the Quest access test message, used to test the mailbox access, to the Trash folder of each user target mailbox during migration. If you are migrating a large number of users that have already been validated, you can set a new INI parameter [Exchange] TestMailboxAccess=0 to skip testing mailbox access and stop the test message being added to the mailbox Trash folder.

When the MNE PowerShell module initializes OneDrive, the module assumes that your SharePoint administration URL is 'https://Your_O365_Azure_Organization_Name-admin.sharepoint.com'.

A new INI parameter [Exchange] O365Organization=<string_custom_name> is added to allow you to replace your default Azure organization name in the SharePoint admin URL with a different name. If this parameter is not specified, the default Azure organization name is used.

285076

By default, MNE runs a MAPI connectivity test for each mailbox in the user collection during the 'Verifying Exchange Account' pre-migration stage of the migration wizard. If you are migrating a large number of users that have already been validated, you can set a new parameter [Exchange] TestMailboxMapiConnectivity=0 to have MNE skip the MAPI connectivity test. When not specified, this parameter is set to 1 by default.

Optionally, you can specify the parameter [Exchange] LogSkippedTestMapiConnectivity=1 to add warnings to the GALSearch.wlog log file if MAPI Connectivity tests are skipped.

301785

A new parameter named [Exchange] CheckMigratedItemsOnFolderLevel has been added. The new parameter checks if the Notes items are already migrated to Exchange based on the folder level or mail store level. This option allows you to avoid creating duplicate items in Exchange by using the [Exchange] RemigrateMode parameter.

216725

MNE now allows you to prevent the group owner ACLs from being set when provisioning groups. You can use a new parameter [ActiveDirectory]SetOwnerACLsForGroups = 0 to prevent the ACLs from being set.

244566

MNE now supports Office 365 Multi-Geo tenants. Note that the Administrator accounts used for migration must be in the same geographical region as the target mailboxes to avoid permission access issues due to GDPR compliance requirements.
