Spotlight on SAP ASE 2.12 - Release Notes

Waiting and Idle Agents graph

The Waiting and Idle Agents graph on the Database Manager Summary drilldown's Agent Activity tab provides global statistics about the number of agents available to service requests and can be used to fine tune the value of the NUM_POOLAGENTS parameter. Having idle agents available to service requests for agents can increase performance of the database server. In environments where there are many applications connected, it is generally recommended to increase the NUM_POOLAGENTS value to avoid the unnecessary overhead of creating and destroying agents.

At each refresh, Spotlight captures the total number of agents currently connected to databases and partitions within the instance.

The Waiting and Idle Agents graph contains the following series:

  • Idle—Plots the number of agents idle at the times shown on the horizontal axis of the graph.

  • Stolen—Plots the number of idle agents associated with other applications that were stolen to work on this Spotlight application.

Note: Move your cursor over a series to view its current value.
