Top level tabs in the Buffer Pool Analysis drilldown

The tabs at the top level of the Buffer Pool Analysis drilldown are the Bufferpools tab and Criteria tab:

  • Bufferpools tab—This tab lists all buffer pools configured for a database or database partition. Columns in the tab show buffer pool statistics, including time spent on reads (asynchronous, direct, and physical), time spent on writes (asynchronous, direct, and physical), overall hit ratio, index hit ratio, prefetch ratio, and size. You can scan this tab to quickly identify potential problems and monitor I/O activity since the last refresh of the Spotlight interface.

  • Criteria tab—This tab lets you define criteria for filtering the list in the Bufferpools tab. Filtering allows you to narrow the scope of the list in order to focus on certain buffer pools. For example, you might filter the list to see buffer pools with the lowest hit ratio or highest number of direct reads.

Tip: In addition to filtering the Bufferpools tab, you can use various display features to control how information is shown. You can organize columns from left to right, hide and show columns, and sort the tab by values in a certain column. To sort by a certain column, click the column header. Being able to sequence and sort columns in different ways allows you to quickly identify different performance problems.
