Log Reader - Command Line Interface

The command-line interface (CLI) helps you access the Log Reader functionality directly without opening the console.

With CLI, you can:

  • Manage registration of SQL Server instances
  • Manage Log Reader server components
  • Read DML/DDL commands
  • Read log records
  • Read transactions
  • Save results in CVS, HTML, XML files, or in databases

The Log Reader CLI uses Windows PowerShell technology. PowerShell is an extendable environment that operates with .Net objects. Log Reader requires PowerShell be installed where?

To use Log Reader CLI

  1. (First use only) Install and register the Log Reader PowerShell Snap-In. For more information, see To register the Log Reader Snap-In.
  2. Do one of the following:
  3. Run the Command-Line Interface commands.
