Currently a migration from a Source DB to a Target DB required a Staging database. Why is it necessary to migrate to the Staging DB before copying to the Target and how do I create the staging database?
The process of migrating Peoplesoft objects from the Source DB to a Target DB always involves a Staging database. The Staging database is a middle ground between the Source and Target environments where Stat creates a Peoplesoft project for the objects being migrated and temporarily places those objects inside the database. Once the project has been created and filled with objects, Stat then automatically opens the PeopleTools Application Designer window if CLI auto-migration is activated for that database. The actually move from the Staging database to the Target database will be done by Peoplesoft App Designer.
To create the Staging database, keep the following point in mind:
The staging database should be a carbon copy of your demo database and you will need to run the staging script. This file is located in your Stat local client directory.
i.e. C:Program FilesQuest SoftwareStat 5.3.1ScriptsOracleStaging
OR
i.e. C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Stat 5.3.1\Scripts\MS SQL Server\Staging
