There are a couple of options for monitoring a logical standby (in read only mode) in Spotlight on Oracle (SoO) 8.0.
If the Spotlight User is replicated onto the logical standby then SoO should be able to connect with that User. Some functionality with SoO will not be available eg. Analyse Trace, but in general the Spotlight will be usable.
The issue seems to be having the Spotlight User being replicated to the Logical Standby Instance.As of SoO 8.0 there is also support for Data Guard. If SoO is connected the Primary Instance the Data Guard connection dialog will become available allowing the user to connect directly to the associated Standby Instance(s).
