Is there any way to debug the running of ora_setup to get more details on the events leading to its failure?

Resolution
No, but the oracle errors appearing during the running of ora_setup should be helpful in troubleshooting.
The ora_setup runs some scripts within the database by opening a session at SQL*Plus level so its execution is outside of the SharePlex code.
The user trace can be set in Oracle but that would be beyond the scope of this article, given that Oracle errors appearing during its running are self-explanatory and are sufficient to resolve the problems for the most part.
