Use the Provision utility to change a Host name and/or IP address in the SharePlex configuration.
The SharePlex processes rely on the Host names and/or IP addresses of the Source and Target machines to route data properly.
The Provision utility enables you to change Host names and/or IP addresses within an active SharePlex instance, without reactivating a new configuration.
NOTE: The Provision utility does not change anything in the database. It only affects SharePlex internal objects.
The Host name and/or IP Address needs to be changed on the SharePlex Source and/or Target servers.
Run the Provision utility on all of the servers in the SharePlex configuration.
Each server can reference the Host name and/or IP addresses of all the other SharePlex servers.
Examples: with A and B as SharePlex Source servers and C as a SharePlex Target server.
1. When the Host name and/or IP Address changes on Source server A.
Run Provision on Source server A and Target server C.
2. When the Host name and/or IP Address changes on Source servers A and B:
Run Provision on Source server A and Target server C with the new details of Source server A.
Run Provision on Source server B and Target server C with the new details of Source server B.
3. When the Host name and/or IP Address changes on Target server C:
Run Provision on Source servers A and B and Target server C with the new details of Target server C.
NOTE:
Refer to the SharePlex Administration and Reference Guides for more information on the Provision utility and the options when running it.
It is highly recommended to initially test the use of the Provision utility in a test environment.
The Provision utility should initially be executed in a Production environment with the '–n' option.
This will execute without making any changes but will list the changes that will be made when the utility is executed without the '-n' option - in other words, a dry run.
