Repair fails with “Logon credentials not defined for” and “Define logon credentials by running ora_setup” -
Description
When running repair or “repair using” with the “for <source SID>” option, the following errors are observed (shown here for “repair using”):
sp_ctrl>repair owner.source_table to owner.target_table for o.SOURCE_SID
repair owner.source_table
Logon credentials not defined for o.SOURCE_SID
Define logon credentials by running ora_setup

Cause
Incorrect source SID value is used in the command. -
Resolution
Re-issue the command with the correct source SID name for the command to work.
The option “for <source SID>” also exists for compare or “compare using” and the error can also show up if incorrect source SID is provided.

Additional Information
The error typically shows up when there is a typo in the source SID name furnished to compare/repair, given that replication is running fine. If indeed no ora_setup was run for source, then there will not have been any replication running in the first place, long before a compare/repair is run.
