Failed to create Hyper-V checkpoint - Error: Vm already has a NetVault Backup snapshot (4380777)

Hyper-V backup job fails with the following error message:

VM[MachineName]: Failed to create Hyper-V checkpoint - Error: Vm already has a NetVault Backup snapshot. User has to manually remove it.

However, when reviewing the snapshot for the listed virtual machine, no NetVault snapshot is listed.

NetVault plugin for Hyper-V creates a snapshot that should be deleted when the job completes. However, if the backup process is interrupted, the plugin could fail to remove the snapshot. The next time the VM is backed up the Hyper-V plugin will detect the snapshot, clean it up as designed, but the job will fail with the error message. If there isn't a NetVault created snapshot listed on the Hyper-V console, the backup job should succeed the next time it runs.

If the Snapshot created by a previous NetVault backup job is still listed, attempt one of the following solutions:

• Run the backup job again. The Hyper-V plugin might be able to remove the snapshot this time.
• Schedule a reboot of the Hyper-V server. Any lock on the snapshot file should be lifted allowing the plugin to clean it the next time the backup job is executed.
