Symptoms:
The restore fails with an error similar to -
"Failed to complete recovery for Storage Group 'StorageGroupName': -Error returned from an ESE function call (d)."
An error also appears in the Event Log similar to -
“Information Store (5004) Callback function call ErrESECBRestoreComplete ended with error 0xC80003EB The parameter is not valid.”
The database state will be “Dirty Shutdown” when running the command
C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\bin>eseutil /mh [data store]
When selecting the information store or database for restore, double click the database/s to expand for its objects, and make sure that the object "log and patch files" is explicitly selected.
