Description:
How to relocate the entire NetVault distribution.
The best way relocate the entire distribution is to follow the procedure outlined below:
#1 shutdown netvault
#2 move the database directory to the new desired location
#3 update the general tab within the nvconfigurator the new database location
#4 restart netvault
#5 peform a netvault database backup
#6 check that the backup was sucessful
#7 rename the netvault database directory to a temporary name
#7 uninstall netvault
#8 re-install netvault into the new location with the SAME netvault server name
(if you don't do this the old database will be unuseable)
#9 shutdown netvault
#10 check that the 'old' database directory that you re-named is still intact
#11 renme the 'new' netvault database directory
#12 rename the original database directory back to it's name i.e. db
#13 restart netvault
if you have any problems with the old database then -
#1 rename the old directory again
#2 return the 'new' database diretory to it's install name
#3 perform a netvault database recovery
[1] tidy up &/or extend file system so that there is enough head room for the netvault database & any projected growth.
[2] identify the tape with the last known backup of the netvault database in a "good state"
[3] make a note of the tape device/s names as seen by the netvault device manager
[4] shutdown netvault
[5] navigate into the netvault database directory as listed within the general tab of the netvault configurator
[6] delete the mediadatbase & scheduledatabase directories
[7] re-add the netvault tapes devices using there original names
[8] scan the netvault database backup tape
[7] perfom a restore of the media manager & schedule manager componants through the nvdb plugin
enter the netvault restore gui
select the netvault server node
open the node
select the netvault databases plugin
open the plugin & select the last good saveset
select the media & schedule componants
