Description:
In Oracle RMAN run from the GUI, control files will be backed up in a separate RMAN job if control file auto-backup is configured. For these jobs to use saved target or advanced options sets, prior configuration is required.
Symptoms:
Without prior configuration, RMAN auto-backups of control files will use the default target and options.
There are two steps to configuring RMAN auto-backups of control files to use saved target or advanced options sets.
First, create and save the set/s in the standard way. Note the name/s.
Second, modify the APM configuration by right clicking the “Oracle APM” icon for the client in the Backup Window, and select ‘configure’. Enter the name of the target set previously created in the field “CLI Backup Target Set”, and the name of the Advanced Options set in the field “CLI Backup Advanced Options Set”. The name must be entered exactly as saved.
