Backup of CCR Exchange cluster causes ESE error 522 of the "Microsoft.Exchange.Cluster.ReplayServ (4043240)

Symptoms:
While running any kind of Exchange backup through NetVault, Exchange logs an error similar to the following in the Application Event Log of the backed up cluster node:

Description:
Microsoft.Exchange.Cluster.ReplayService (xxxx) Log Verifier exx : An attempt to open the device name " " containing " " failed with system error 5 (0x00000005): "Access is denied. ". The operation will fail with error -1032 (0xfffffbf8).

Among other things, this error can occur with replication activity and log replay caused by a backup. Microsoft has a knowledge base article on this at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960384/.

The error message can actually be ignored. However, Microsoft has released a patch as part of Update Rollup 7.
