NetVault reports services are in a stopped state due to to disk being full.
The cause of this is very low space on NetVault installation directory or volume.
This can be caused by a number of factors caused by user management of NetVault such as:
Disk threshold limits defined in the NV Configurator - see Resolution.
NVDB growing very large and filling up NVBU installation path
NetVault Trace/debug being enabled and left.
These are some of the factors that can be caused by NetVault, but most often it is just a lack of awareness of the disk space usage on the NV Server or Clients installation path. Installing extra software or servers that have limited space are not recommended for NetVault Server installations. Ensure plenty of space is reserved for NVDB growth and to prevent the service from stopping. See below the threshold limits set by default.
On NetVault versions before 11.4.x,the NVConfigurator 'Logging Daemon' tab will give you access to the default settings for disk space usage thresholds.
In newer versions starting 11.4, nvconfigurator has been removed, so you will have to edit the NetVault/config/logdaemon.cfg to edit the below settings:
The following settings can be changed, to allow for the Disk space thresholds to be of higher percentage%. These defaults are defined as:
Disk Space Warning Threshold: 85% (This percentage warns that the disk space is approaching critical levels)
Disk Space Critical Threshold: 95% (This percentage of usage full dictates whether the service will be stopped)
This can be changed temporarily to allow the NV Service to start and to free up space in the process.
For example if you need the service to be running whilst space is being freed up, do the following:
-Adjust the "Disk Space Critical" Threshold to 99%
-Start the Service
But remember that if there is no space left on the partition this won't help and you will have to clear up space.
Clear up space to where the usage has at least 20% of space available. Also, identify if there is something that is filling up the disk outside of NetVault. It is always recommended to keep a much lower percentage capacity however. Technical support recommends at least 30% free space to allow for growth.
