Description

After upgrading or installing the VMware Plugin to 11.3, jobs start failing with "Failed to backup data of disk", more info shows "[13] You do not have access rights to this file".
Credentials have been confirmed and proven to work and jobs work fine with the VMware Plugin 11.2
This occurs only on ESX hosts running 5.1 or earlier, but works on ESX 5.5 and later.
Cause

This is a compatibility issue between the 11.3 VMware plugin and ESX 5.1.
The VMware Plugin 11.3 uses VDDK 6.5. Per VMware VDDK 6.5 Release Notes, the backward compatibility supported is 6.0 and 5.5:

The VMware Plugin 11.2 uses VDDK 6.0. Per VMware VDDK 6.0 Release Notes, the backward compatibility supported is 5.5 and 5.1:

Resolution

The Host needs to be upgraded to a minimum of ESX 5.5
