IBM AIX PowerVM backup causes the server to re-boot

PowerVM is still not part of the compatibility matrix with Netvault .

However there are few customer  backing PowerVm using the NetVault and works fine with most of the VM as the architecture is the same with AIX.   

We noticed in one particular scenario, the AIX Vm server gets re-booted\crashed due to high server utilization of Ram and CPU . 

Workaround

To lower the system utilization & avoid system crash\re-boot you could try the below suggestion . 

1. Increase the system resources on the AIX virtual machine . (Like the Ram, CPU cores & sufficient free Space)
2. Can we exclude the OS partition & Netvault installation from the AIX backup selection. 
3. Also if possible reinstall netvault on volume which has more free space for the Netvault\tmp working directory during backup.

STATUS

Enhancement request FT-994 (include AIX PowerVM as a supported OS for NetVault Backup clients) has been submitted to Development for consideration in a future release of NetVault Backup.
