Can you restore an AlwaysOn Availability Group database to an alternate standalone SQL Server? (4040914)

An AAG environment is required where backups will be performed, and an standalone SQL Server is required where the restore will be performed. Both environments need to have the same versions of SQL Server installed

1. Perform a backup of an AAG including one or more databases
2. Create a New Restore Job
3. Select one of the databases for restore
4. If necessary select 'Action' to Relocate and/or Rename the database
5. Open Restore Options, in the Server Name\Instance Name field enter:
   1. if restoring to a named instance (in the standalone server), enter only the name of the named instance
   2. If restore to the default instance (local, or MSSQLSERVER in the standalone server) left the field blank
6. Click Next, but before submit the Job, ensure that
7. In the Target Client field is entered the NVBU Client where the standalone SQL Server is running
8. Submit the Restore Job

Enhancement request number “DNPSS-634" has been added in Plugin for SQL Server version 11.4.5. Users are now able to restore AlwaysOn Availability Group (AAG) databases from AAG backups (VDI Full) to standalone SQL Server client (non-cluster).
