VMware backup fails while backing up VMWare.log files (4032532)

VMware backup runs as normal then appears to take a long time backing up the VMWare.log files then eventually the backup fails with lost message channel unexpectedly as seen in binary log extracts below.

Extract From binary log:

Job Message      2012/11/27 07:25:04        206         Data Plugin         SRV-BK-01           Backing up log files to media

Error      2012/11/27 07:39:36        206         Jobs       SRV-BK-01           Job manager lost message channel unexpectedly

Possibly a consequence of Bug 21912 opened for slow data transfer when backing up Vmwrae.log files. 

Shutdown the VM, delete or move the old logs to a different directory.
