Notes on adding SmartDisk volume -
Description
When adding a volume using the command ".../foundation/bin/smartdisk config --add -volume <newNetVaultSmartDiskVolume>", SmartDisk returns the message:
"Failed to apply configuration"
Additionally, the OS log includes the following entries:
INDEXER Invalid Volume location <newNetVaultSmartDiskVolume>''INDEXER Invalid storage configuration stanza in DISK_CONFIG_REQ_MSG Failed to apply configuration -
Cause
The owner and access rights of the file system path of the volume specified at the time of addition are inadequate. -
Resolution
NetVault SmartDisk requires a non-privileged user to have access to all added volumes.
Use the non-privileged user added during SmartDisk installation to create the file system path of the new volume or change the permissions of the directory as appropriate.
